Belgium: State of the Federation 2021

A joint organisation of the two Belgian political science associations - Association belge francophone de science politique & Vereniging voor Politieke Wetenschappen

After the peculiar and virtual 2020 conference wonderfully organised by our colleagues from the Ghent University, we are glad to invite you to the tenth (!) edition of the State of the Federation. The SoF has now become a very awaited event among our community as it remains a good opportunity for researchers from both sides of the linguistic border to discuss, debate and reflect together on political sciences. The next edition of this yearly conference will take place on Friday 17 December 2021, in the last week before the winter break, as tradition requires. If health conditions allow it, the conference will take place in face-to-face at the University of Namur for your greatest pleasure. Were the conditions to change, we would then endeavour to repeat the 2020 virtual format

Since its creation, the State of the Federation has grown as a key event for Belgian and Belgian-based political scientists (but also for some international scholars), with high-quality panels and interventions as well as with motivated and engaged researchers. After a rather difficult past year, we hope that this tenth edition of the conference will once again be a welcoming opportunity to come together to present and discuss the results of political science research on the Belgian politics and administration. We welcome papers dealing with any aspect of politics in Belgium. Topics could include: electoral and party politics, federalism and institutional reform, participation and representation, public policies and administration or Belgium’s international and European politics. Papers could examine all levels of the polity (local, regional, federal, European and international).

Please submit your abstract(s) of max 200 words by 22 October 2021 at the latest via the registration form.
